Things are pretty tame from Laird Park to 1423, then get steeper.
The climb up Bald Mtn's South Side is pretty aggressive, more ATV trail than fire road. Riders looking for an easier climb might prefer to connect from 3280 to 377 / Palouse Divide Road for a less rough ascent on the North Side of Bald Mtn.
