The first 4 miles from Grove St, Franklin has a nice stone dust surface. Then there's a mile or two of flat single track with some mud and soft sand. A mountain bike would be better for this section although I did it on a gravel bike with 38c tires. It links up to a nice section of paved bike path (also part of the SNETT) via a mile or so of on road riding. The SNETT goes all the way thru Douglas MA and into Thompson CT but I have not done that part.
